PEXALGAS Advantages
PEXALGAS is an innovative, multi-layer solution that accelerates and simplifies gas piping installations. It is designed for use in indoor and outdoor applications as outlined in the installation guide. Install your gas piping installations up to 50% faster and reduce up to 40% of the anchor clips generally required for surface mounting plastic pipes. As a result of its design, you can get in and get the job done faster.
Unique benefits
Unlike alternate materials like CSST, copper, and black iron pipes, a unique advantage of PEXALGAS is that it bends easily and retains its shape, therefore, PEXALGAS reduces the number of fittings required for the job. In addition, PEXALGAS has better flow rates because of its smooth internal PEX layer. Once the pipes are bent and installed, they remain securely in place. Get StartedWhat is PEXALGAS?
Due to its innovative, multi-layer system, PEXALGAS combines the positive features typical of crosslinked polyethylene PEX-b and also those of aluminum. To explain, the PEX-b offers excellent mechanical, physical, and chemical properties. Meanwhile, the aluminum pipe strengthens mechanical resistance. As a result of these layers working together, PEXALGAS is flexible, malleable, and comprised of intentional features that simplify and, therefore, speed up installation operations. Not to mention, PEXALGAS lowers the risk of lacerations and sharp, jagged edges that form after cutting materials like CSST. PEXALGAS is safer, easier, and faster.
- EXTERNAL LAYER
This external layer is cross-linked polyethylene PEX-b. It shields the aluminum layer from blows, scratches, and electrochemical attacks by water, cement, and other substances in the ground, therefore. protecting it. - BONDING LAYERS
These layers have a powerful adhesive that bonds the intermediate layer with the internal and external layers. - INTERMEDIATE LAYER
This layer provides excellent mechanical resistance and flexibility during installation. To explain, the pipe is an aluminum alloy that is butt-welded longitudinally. Consequently, it is a barrier for oxygen, light, and gas. - INTERNAL LAYER
The internal layer is made with cross-linked polyethylene PEX-b pipe. It is characterized by a highly smooth surface which significantly reduces pressure losses when compared to other gas piping products such as CSST which is corrugated.
PEXALGAS advantages
Safer
PEXALGAS has characteristics designed to keep installers safe. According to the results of 3rd-party testing, the material is proven to withstand lighting strikes. Plus, installers using PEXALGAS lower the risk of lacerations.
Faster
When compared to using CSST pipes, installing PEXALGAS is up to 50% faster! And moreover, it’s approximately 75% faster than installing black iron pipes. HVAC and plumbing contractors will significantly reduce time on the job site and benefit from material savings.
Fewer Leak Points
Due to its malleable nature, installation requires fewer cuts and less connections. This reduces the amount of potential leak points. Whether working in tight spaces behind appliances or in larger residential areas, installers worry less with PEXALGAS.
Tested
PEXALGAS is certified to be in compliance with International Fuel & Gas Code, IRC and UPC, and meets NFPA-54, ASTM F1281-2017 and ISO 17484 / AS 4176.8-2010 standards.
The PEXALGAS difference
Due to its proprietary and unique design, PEXALGAS flow rates exceed and outperform those of traditional gas piping methods. As a result, it allows for up to a 60% reduction in material.
The installation of PEXALGAS is up to 50% faster than CSST and 75% faster than black iron pipe.
With a significantly smoother internal surface, PEXALGAS pipes reduce pressure losses.
During bending, the connection between the cross-linked polyethylene and aluminum offers excellent flexibility as well as structure permanence.
The layer of aluminum acts as a barrier to the passage of oxygen, gas, and light.
Thermal expansion is about 8x lower compared to plastic pipes and is similar to that of metal pipes.
Vibrations are absorbed due to the elasticity of the cross linked polyethylene, therefore offering excellent noise reduction.
PEXALGAS products are an ideal solution in areas subject to earthquakes because of their superior mechanical properties such as flexibility and capacity to dampen vibrations.
The total resistance of corrosion to construction materials and the principal chemical compounds means PEXALGAS pipes are the most versatile solution and suited for vast applications.
Coiled PEXALGAS pipes are up to 50% lighter than other gas piping materials.
A wide range of pipes, from 16 mm - 32 mm (3/8” - 1” closest U.S. equivalent size), are available and ship quickly from Jones Stephens.
The range of fittings, accessories, and tools is comprehensive, supplying professional plumbers solutions that ensure all requirements are satisfied.
PEXALGAS is thoughtfully produced with completely recyclable materials that can also be recovered at the end of their service life.
Lightning strike testing proves PEXALGAS withstands and outperforms other materials on the market. Read this independent study on the effects of lightning strikes on PEX-AL-PEX.
It meets UPC, ICC ES PMG, ASTM F1281-2017, and AS 4176.8-2010 standards and is certified according to International Fuel & Gas Code, International Residential Code, and Uniform Plumbing Code.
